MyModernWeb.com is excited to announce that we have moved our offices to the Gryphon Building on Main Street in Joplin.

This move is a stepping-stone to better serve our clients.  We have a comfortable lobby and a contemporary conference room to meet with you in a professional manner. Our offices also have areas to meet one-on-one. We are pumped to be able to serve you in the heart of Joplin and in this remarkable building.

The Gryphon Building is loaded with Joplin history.  Known to many as the Bagcraft Building, Inter-State Grocer Company initially built a new, fireproof warehouse, processing and distribution facility for a cost of $225,000 in 1915.

The 64 interior concrete structural columns support the five-story, 130,000 square foot landmark. Sophisticated architecture combined with the time saving devices, such as an elevator, spiral chute, pneumatic message and package tubes, speaking tubes and a full telephone exchange, made this a building an enjoyable, yet efficient workplace. The visitors lobby on the first floor featured water fountains and a lounging area with a library table arranged with newspapers and magazines and comfortable chairs.

The design of the building accommodated the company’s best selling product. 15,000 pounds of coffee roasted on the fifth floor in two large Monitor gas roasters daily. The coffee descended to the fourth floor for cleaning, purifying and steel cuttings. Then descended again to the third floor for packing, weighing and packaging.

In 1968, Inter-State Grocery Company built a new warehouse and vacated the building. Joplin Building Material Company, Future Foam Inc. and Vickers Factory each used the building as warehouse space until the Bagcraft Corporation of America purchased the building in 1972. Bagcraft operated their Midwest Division of manufacturing bag and paper products at this location until they moved to Baxter Springs, Kansas in 1994.

Other than the Joplin High School spook house fundraiser, the building sat vacant until someone saw the potential of the deteriorating historical building. The Gryphon Building Strategic Professional Team began renovations in 2009. Residents quickly noticed a significant difference in the building simply driving down Main Street. Several companies now run their business from the Gryphon building with more moving in each month. When construction is complete, the first floor will hold a restaurant and art gallery.

This move carries new opportunities and better service for our clientele. Come on up and see our new place & take peek at the historic renovations taking place. The office also has a new local number for your convenience.
